Simply Science
Science projects are part of each school's curriculum.
Some kids enjoy them greatly while others prefer other means of education.
For those kids who enjoy them however, scienceproject.com has created an
extensive website with many projects designed especially for each particular
skill level and class grade. Every parent should encourage their children
to try projects at home. Scienceproject.com makes the process very
enjoyable and easy. The website provides project guides for about seven
hundred projects. Each guide is carefully designed and tested for
accuracy by professionals. That same professional is also ready to answer
any questions that may arise during experimentation. This way the parents
do not have to be engaged significantly in the whole process.
Buying components for the science fair projects may turn out to
be a hassle. In turn, miniscience.com provides science kits as well as
other lab supplies that may be necessary to run experiments. This way the
education will be maximized while other frustrations will be minimized.
A sample senior level project follows.
Structure versus strength in dams
Introduction
Dams are among the structures that are subject
to extreme forces. Many small and large dams have
broken in the past and almost every time such accidents are contributed to
structural defects in original design or structural defects caused later as a
result of poor maintenance.
When a dam breaks, millions of dollars of
investment are lost and it creates a sudden flood. The flood destroys farms and
houses and properties and takes many lives. Without a dam. many cities will
loose electricity and water for an extensive period of time.
The structure of a dam or the way that it's parts
are designed and interconnected is the main factor affecting the strength of a
dam.
Project description
This project studies on different structural designs for dams. You will make
models and measure and compare the strength of each design.
